Kalix Celebrates 10 Years

Celebrating Kalix Marketing’s 10th anniversary was a milestone that I never really thought about back in 2012. When we first set out to build an educational marketing firm that specialized in helping the nation’s independent schools do a more impactful job of marketing and communications, it wasn’t on our radar.

Ten years ago, we were too focused on getting Kalix off the ground. But on Monday, May 23, 2022, Kalix Marketing celebrates our 10th anniversary.

In our early years we were and continue to be laser focused on the needs of our educational clients. For Kalix, it has always been about practicing what I call servant leadership. We exist to serve the needs of our clients. It’s not about us, but it’s about them.

What does that mean? Marketing firms love to collect accolades and awards. Many seem to spend a fair amount of time telling you about the latest recognition they’ve received from industry colleagues. They want you to recognize that self-importance is a virtue and not a vice.  We simply don’t bother with all of that.

It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience to work with individuals and organizations whose end product is the education of its customers. We believe in celebrating teachers, school leaders and lifelong educators who are passionate about making the world a better place, one student at a time. As corny as that may sound, that’s what we want our schools to do.

Our job is to advise and consent. We have the pleasure of working with heads of school, presidents, board chairs, directors of marketing and communications and admissions directors all in service of enhancing a school’s marketing efforts.

Our value proposition is our people. When they sit with a school’s leadership team either in person (we sure have missed doing that during COVID) or via Zoom, they bring best practices and the experience of working with schools around the country to help our current clients. I’m both in awe and incredibly proud of the people that are Kalix Marketing. To Donna Balinkie, Gerri Baum, Sarah Achenbach, Ruth Eve, Emily Goldstein, Jeffrey Freedman and Wayne Jacobs, thank you for all that you do every day for all of our educational clients.

As we’ve grown we’ve had the opportunity to help highly specialized public and charter schools along with educational organizations that work with the independent school community. To everyone who has supported us along the way, I thank you for your kind words of encouragement, insights, and your desire to connect us with schools that recognize the importance of investing in marketing.

Speaking of investing, later this summer we will unveil a new refreshed Kalix brand and website. It’s a project that we’ve been working on for most of the past academic year, and we are excited to share it with you.

It has been both an honor and a pleasure to serve the national independent school community for 10 years. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you.
